Counselling is a type of talking therapy that allows a person to talk about their problems and feelings in a confidential and dependable environment. A counsellor is trained to listen with empathy (by putting themselves in your shoes). They can help you deal with any negative thoughts and feelings you have.  

Counselling aims to help you deal with and overcome issues that are causing emotional pain or making you feel uncomfortable. It can provide a safe and regular space for you to talk and explore difficult feelings. The counsellor is there to support you and respect your views. They won't usually give advice, but will help you find your own insights into and understanding of your problems (NHS 2016).  

The counselling service delivered from Base 25 is free to access for Wolverhampton residents of all ages and referrals can be made using the referral form below. Charges may apply, please refer to our service updates below.

Base 25 can offer a school counselling service, private counselling (young people/adults) and counselling for out of area, but there is a cost for this service.  

Overall Aim

Specific Aims

Base 25 are accepting counselling referrals from:

  • GP's for over 18's up to early 30's. (Please use Base 25 referral form using the 'click here' button)
  • You can refer yourself if you are aged 18 years and over by presenting at our drop in centre (this will take about 10 minutes); we will fill out a referrals form with you and place you onto our waiting list. (Please use Base 25 referral form using the 'click here' button).
  • Professionals for children/young people under the age of 18 and should complete the CAMHS SPA referral form to send directly to CAMHS. In the event of any referral queries, we are happy to help, please contact our dedicated SPA team on 01902 444021 or email
Crisis counselling for over 18's is also available and can be accessed via our drop in on the following days/times only:
Monday 3-5pm
Friday 2:30-5pm

If you require further counselling support, please refer to the following services available in Wolverhampton outlined in the document below. Those who are already on our counselling waiting list will not be affected.
